Yep. Really.

​

Some of the things that make me happy:

​

• Dogs. They always live in the moment, and that inspires me.

• My friends who never fail to make my heart happy.

• My sisters and BIL never fail to crack me up!  You know - the kind of laughing where you can't breathe?

• Hitting the road for a roadtrip to nowhere in particular. The open road, music, Doritos and peanut M&Ms. Get in...I'm driving!!

• Art & Music. I am constantly inspired.

• People. Everyone has a story, and I love hearing them.

• My camera. Well...that one is a given, isn't it? :)

Some of the things that make me unhappy:

• Litterbugs.

• Racism.

   Not necessarily in that order.

Growing up, ​I was the kid who always had a camera in her hand, and now I've been a professional photographer for 20 years. Alongside photography, I have 30 years of experience in IT as an Program Manager.

 

My IT career taught me to listen closely, plan every detail, and guide people calmly through complex projects, while always leaving room for the unknown.

 

I bring all of that into every portrait session, so you can relax and simply be yourself.

Today I run Happy Sohi Photography, a luxury portrait studio in Frederick, Maryland, where I help women define their beauty on their own terms, and help everyone preserve the relationships and stories that matter most.

​

​​​​Why am I telling you all this?

 

Because when we get to know each other as people, it creates an amazing energy between us during sessions that can call for moments of goofiness, intensity, sweetness, intimacy, and many of the other emotions that you see in my images. I want to capture you -  in all your magnificent realness - without the awkwardness of being a stranger.

​

I realized a few years ago that the reason I was put on this earth was to provide people like you with images of the most important times in your lives. I am humbled, on a daily basis, with the knowledge that my images are a visual representation of your stories. 

​

To wake up everyday with the opportunity to help people see their own beauty...how did I get so lucky?
